JULY ACTIVITY HIGHLIGHT
UTS ACADEMIC RESOURCE CENTRE'S QUEST FOR EXCELLENCE

15 – 17 JULY 2025
The UTS Academic Resource Centre (ARC) had a very productive time in Kuching, combining a benchmarking visit with attendance at a key industry seminar. On July 15, 2025, the ARC team conducted a benchmarking visit to the Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak Library. The visit focused on key areas including services and resources, facilities, and operational management. The goal was to gain valuable insights and learn from Swinburne’s best practices to further enhance UTS’s own academic support systems.

Following this, on July 16 and 17, ARC librarians joined the SEMINAR KEPUSTAKAWANAN 2025, organized by PeTARY UNIMAS. Held at the prestigious Borneo Cultures Museum in Kuching, the seminar’s theme was “Inovasi Mapan dalam Perpustakaan: Menghubungkan Dunia Digital dan Fizikal”. The event attracted participants from various universities across Malaysia, with several presenting their research papers on topics related to the seminar’s theme. The Seminar provided an excellent platform for professional development and networking, allowing UTS team to connect with peers and stay abreast of the latest trends in library innovation.
The week-long trip was a great succes, offering a unique blend of practical learning and professional engagement that will undoubtedly benefir to the UTS Academic Resource Centre.
UTS INSTITUTIONAL REPOSITORY USER TRAINING A SUCCESS
10 JULY 2025
The Academic Resource Centre (ARC) hosted a helpful workshop on the UTS Institutional Repository (IR) on July 10, 2025. Held in the ARC Computer Area, the free training helped participants learn how to use the university’s digital collection.
The workshop taught everyone how to easily find and view academic items in the repository. Attendees also learned just how easy it is to upload their own work – such as theses and papers – ensuring it’s safety stored and accessible to the university community.
To thank every one for coming, a lucky draw was held at the end of the session. The event was successful, highlighting the keen interest of both students and staff in utilizing the Institutional Repository.
